Ice melts away from the names on the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in the early mroning sun as temperatures continue to dip below freezing at night.

Temperatures lingered below freezing for several days, not an everyday occurrence in coastal Onslow County, producing frozen artistry along the edges of its creeks and waterways.
