While on assignment to photograph images to support plans for a new entranceway to Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina I was taken by surprise as this cyclist made his way through a patchwork of lines created by late afternoon shadows of the Rails to Trails overpass above Lejeune Boulevard.

Fireworks, 3 July 2009, at the swing bridge along Highway 50 in Surf City, North Carolina, one of the few remaining swing bridges in the state. Discussions are underway proposing replacement of the swing bridge with a concrete high rise as boat taffic along the intercoastal waterway and development in the area continue to increase.
